One good thing about this diatribe is that I get to let you know how to avoid pitfalls. Not quite the same way your preacher does but in a way could be, opposite of what the politician who is an overpaid salesman in most instances. I like y'all to think about the message - every once in awhile it is too nebulous but hopefully I'll do my sales job and y'all read it 2 or more times. What are you missing - that I stock Jaguar parts - new - OEM - used - leftovers and of course my retrofits for alternators, engines, transmission and upgrades too - trick rack bushings and the No Thump trans mount.

Shop local - that means when you think you are saving 5.00 on a part you need to look at the broader picture. I know you have been to the store - "we don't stock that - we can order it" and on and on - I like to say it's because we live in a little burb. Everyone talks about how fabulous the country store was - staples, shovels, cloth, candy - all under one roof - look at a McMaster catalog - imagine walking in and loading up. What does it have to do with English car parts. I stock what sells, I pay taxes from the roof to the ground and the stock between. Knowledgeable people counsel you, and hopefully keep you from foolishly spending money on the wrong part. When I get Mr O Price Shopper on the horn who thinks that the XJ40 door handles are new and improved - they are not - still same original part - Jaguar is not going to fix it - can sell it if it does not break. But I read it on the web - all sales BS and how are you going to know that.

Mr Snake Oil can tell you all he wants - You'll never know any difference - and since he doesn't have what is now commonly known as the Bricks and Motor store - he does not have any inventory then the problem is "I was short on stock and had a buddy send it" Nope he did not make the mistake - if that is what it is. If you discover it is wrong part on Saturday - what now - buy it from the dealer so you can fix your Jag or wait another week and pay again hoping to get it straightened out later, and something else to mail back - follow up on the credit and..... you really are saving big. Or you bring the set of XJ6 fan belts to me to trade in on the V12 ones you need! I don't even have to make this stuff up, everyday same old. No store, no taxes, no local jobs, no hands on for the summer jobs - and who wins? Now here I am trying to get you to order parts long distance and telling you to buy local - yes buy local if the material is priced fairly and is on hand - when you don't have those luxuries we are ready to get the cat goodies to you promptly. I will tell you that JCI is not a loss leader seller - that means I don't hook you with a cheap price and make it up on frt/handling/shop fees - it does not take much to be an educated consumer.

I'd like to say thanks to my staff that endures this stuff - it is often a thankless job and sometimes the requests and directions I offer make no sense for the moment but we soldier on. Blessings to all our real soldiers, active, veterans and forefathers, we owe you all.

What other know it alls - have contractor doing a job for you that wants $ up front? - buy the materials yourself - scenarios: had another problem and spent your money, bought wrong stuff, disappeared with your money, doesn't buy enough material do complete-hand out for more inflated $, leaves job - you need to exchange material - but you did not buy it and no receipts......The man who has a track record with good references, different story but like the gypsy body people - fix dent (no paintwork) in your driveway, when you get to the body shop - well the work is not up to snuff, pay again. I suggest the same with your conversion kit, I have your name on file, I ship the kit when I get your money and you know this from my 30 years of providing V8 and other conversions. Several times a year Joe Smith calls to rag that his shop can't fix his car cause I haven't sent any or all of the parts - no record of shop or money - gets ugly from there, depending on what the "shop" is doing to them. Next month I'll give you a link to another scam - I am a first hand loser, my ambition is to help you have a great new year. I can't help you if you don't buy cat parts from me, this is real $ here, not web hype. Mention this scam and I'll give you 5% off your next parts order, even off the freight that I bill at cost, see if you can beat that deal. Happy New Year from www.johnscars.com,

John and the staff.
