John's Cars carries a full line of Jaguar "XJ" parts – new, rebuilt and used. The "XJ" series includes all models beginning with the letters "XJ" - XJ6, XJS, XJ12, etc., from 1969 to 1998.  We carry some parts for the XKE and Mark models, but these are limited to parts that were common with the XJ cars (some brakes, suspension and electrical).

Note:  This page concentrates on XJ40 Sedans (1988 to 1997 XJ6).  If you are looking for earlier XJ Sedans or any XJS, click here.

We've listed but a few parts here (mostly fast moving items) --- call for more parts, the latest info and prices.   Our online parts catalog currently focuses on earlier XJ Sedans and XJS, but it will soon add parts for these cars as well.

Door Handles
Don't waste your time - you can't buy anymore (time). The handle castings break, fail, fatigue and stretch - no cure or fix except to replace it with a new assembly. It is the casting (not the handle) that is the real problem.  This is for all 1988 and 1989 (to VIN 594575) XJ6.

NEW: JCI exclusive! We have the spring that keeps the interior door handle from flopping out (this does not fix the exterior door handle).
GMALT Jaguar picked GM for it’s A/C, power steering and air pumps – now YOU can choose a GM alternator and exorcise The Prince of Darkness (AKA Joseph Lucas) from your kitty. Keep the cat’s eyes bright with the latest John’s Cars retrofit:  GMALT, a GM alternator kit for your XJ.
Antenna For the first time, you can buy just the mast and not whole assembly - what a revolution!
Brakes, Hydraulics
& Shocks
The lights on the dash keep reminding you to something, or maybe your Jag rides like a buggy in the back.  Here is our advice and parts: SHOCKCHANGE - the JCI easy fix to convert your hydraulic shocks to regular shocks... plus more: springs, mineral oil, valves and the book - everything you need to diagnose and fix your hydraulic woes.

Don't waste your time - you can't buy anymore (time). The handle castings break, fail, fatigue and stretch - no cure or fix except to replace it with a new assembly. It is the casting (not the handle) that is the real problem - that's why you won't find used ones, they are all broke!   This is for all 1988 and 1989 (to VIN 594575) XJ6.

Jaguar offered NON-heated handles for warm climates and we have them listed below. You can take the heater off of your USA handle and install it or just ignore it if you live where it is warm!  Besides we got along without such gadgets for a 100 years!

Jaguar picked GM for it’s A/C, power steering and air pump – now YOU can choose a GM alternator and exorcise The Prince of Darkness (AKA Joseph Lucas) from your kitty. Keep the cat’s eyes bright with the latest John’s Cars retrofit:

GMALT, a GM alternator kit for your XJ.

The kit is built to JCI standard specifications: 100% bolt-in, heavy duty parts (the adaptor bracket is 1/4" steel), all needed hardware, plug-in wiring (no splices plus it maintains the original color codes so your mechanic’s purist nose won’t suffer a fatal attack) and instructions of course. No cutting, welding, dents, drilling, or other modifications are needed. Black zinc plated so you don't have to paint it.  Add 10 minutes (to read the instructions) to the normal R&R time and change for the better to the best!

Kit does not include the alternator, what you’ll need is listed in the table below. For 68 to 87 6-cyl XJ Sedans, I recommend a GM 78 Amp unit.  If your kitty has a TV, FAX machine and Boom Box, you can still be happy with a heavy duty 94 Amps unit. V12 cars require more juice, so 94 Amps is recommended.  88 to 97 XJ6 and 4.0 6-cyl XJS require nuclear power to run all the toys and electronics – 100 Amps.  Contact your local parts emporium and ask for the part number on the list. Remember you’ll need a new excuse to be late now – I am sure the cat will think of something.

Brakes, Hydraulics & Shockchange (Hydraulic Shock Swap)
Picture Description Part # Price
JR's Tip: I strongly recommend the S73 manual before you leap into the system.  99% of the time you need a CCC3832 hydraulic relief valve and often need a CCC3834 charge/load valve.  Short cut the work this time and you will be doing it again in a few months!

Tip 2:  Follow the safety steps on this system - you must depressurize it before you start - unhook the battery too!
SHOCKCHANGE - the JCI easy fix to convert your hydraulic shocks to conventional gas shocks.  It includes the shocks, hardware and instructions.   Our kit does NOT include new springs as our shop customers were unhappy with ride (too high and stiff) -- we can sell you springs separately if you wish.

The Jaguar kit includes new springs (listed below).  Their kit with springs is 577.60.  We tried numerous installations and always got complaints.
